Mr. Scott Jones
Scott Jones is a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County and a graduate of Wilson High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education from Athens State University. He completed his Master’s degree from The University of North Alabama and an Ed.S from Middle Tennessee State University.
Mr. Jones was previously a teacher and coach at Waterloo High School for 17 years. He then served 10 years as an Assistant Principal at Central and Waterloo before going to Central full time last year.
Mr. Jones joined Allen Thornton Career Technical Center in 2021 and has since become an integral part of its continued growth and success. Throughout his tenure, he has greatly valued the opportunity to work alongside the dedicated faculty, staff, and students who make the school a dynamic and innovative learning environment.
Under Mr. Jones’s leadership, the career center has experienced steady increases in student enrollment each year. He has also played a key role in expanding the number of short-term certificate programs offered, providing students with more flexible and accessible pathways to workforce readiness. His commitment to student achievement is further demonstrated through the strong partnerships he has cultivated with local businesses and industries. These collaborations have allowed students to earn industry-recognized credentials and gain hands-on experience that supports their long-term career goals.
One of Mr. Jones’s most significant accomplishments has been his tireless work toward establishing a new location for the Lauderdale County Career Technical Center. His vision, persistence, and leadership have been instrumental in moving this major project forward, ensuring that future students will benefit from expanded opportunities in a modern, state-of-the-art facility.
Mr. Jones remains dedicated to advancing career and technical education and continuing to build programs that support both students and the broader community. His contributions have left a lasting and meaningful impact on Allen Thornton Career Technical Center.
