Effective for the 2018-2019 school year, Allen Thornton Career Technical Center will be operating under the guidelines and protocol of Alabama’s Simulated Workplace Initiative.
In order to adequately prepare students for the workplace, each Career Tech program on the ATCTC campus operates a “company” where students accepted into the programs are “employees” with specific positions and responsibilities that align with Alabama workforce requirements including: professionalism, attendance, and safety.
The Alabama Workplace Initiative is a statewide endeavor in Career and Technical Education which permits students the opportunity to take ownership of their individual performance as it impacts the overall success of their education, while thriving in an authentic workplace culture.
